Youth

McPherson Free Methodist Youth Ministries offers programming for both High School and Middle School students. Our desire is for students to become well-rounded Disciples of Christ through fellowship, discipleship, evangelism, worship and ministry.

Our Middle School Program – JOLT! meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-8:00pm This is an outreach time as well as a teaching time. Each Wednesday students experience fun and active games, worship, a message, and time in small groups. Each semester has a different spiritual theme or focus, which breaks down into weekly topical teachings. And of course, no JOLT! meeting would be complete without a snack from our snack bar at the end of the evening.

Our Sunday school hour (9:15 am) has a very distinct purpose in our ministry. We use this time each week to disciple and teach the students. Within a student’s three years of middle school Sunday school they will be taught the basic doctrines of the Christian faith, what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, general Biblical knowledge, and how to live out their faith in an unbelieving world.
We recognize that there is a diverse group of students at different spiritual levels that attend our Sunday school programs. It is for this reason that we have a rotating 3-year curriculum.

Our High School program – ReMix meets on Sunday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. The evening itself covers a multitude of activities including: community building activity (game), worship, drama, video clips, and a message. The weekly teachings are topical, and they focus on challenging students to live out the message of Jesus in their everyday lives.

The high school Sunday school program picks up where the middle school program stops. We use this time to focus on Biblical teaching and training. The goal of our high school Sunday school program is to help students to move away from leaning what to think, and begin to learn how to think. We don’t want them to believe that God has limits. The purpose of our high school program is to show students that all things are theirs (1Cor. 3:21).

Bible Quizzing
is a ministry of the Free Methodist Church that combines Bible study and Christian competition for youth in grades 6-12. The purpose is to establish youth in their faith through the systematic study, application, and memorization of the Word of God. At weekly practices, coaches strive to balance the three main components of quizzing: learning and applying the Bible, having fun and fellowship, and practicing to compete with other churches. Teams of three teens quiz against teams from other churches at monthly conference or regional tournaments. Each year selected books of the New Testament (NIV) are studied throughout the school year, and the season culminates with National Bible Quiz Finals held at a Free Methodist college.
