Worship Arts
A great privilege of the body of Christ is joining together to worship Him through music, the arts, the Word, and other shared expressions of our journey. At Mac FMC our desire is to worship God fully, “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). We worship him because he has created us, loved us, and redeemed us through the sacrifice of Christ. Our corporate worship is a continuation of all God has been doing in our individual lives throughout the week. We worship him not simply because we enjoy it or because it makes us feel good, but because he deserves every expression of praise, adoration, and honor that we can give. Each week as we assemble as his congregation, we bring every need and hurt, every joy and praise, and lay them at his feet in worship.
Intergenerational Worship
We are thankful for the diversity represented in our church body, as people from all walks and stages of life unite during our services. While we seek to give a voice to each “style” of music, we pray for unity in the Holy Spirit that supersedes our own individual preferences. We value the deep spiritual truths expressed in time-honored hymns, and we also recognize the ongoing inspiration of the Spirit through modern worship songs. Through music, ministry highlights, and teaching moments, we hope that each person finds inclusion in the elements of our services, no matter what age.
Worship Arts Teams
Sanctuary Choir
The choir rehearses at 6:15 on Wednesday evenings, usually preparing one song a week to present in worship. Seeing themselves as co-worship-leaders rather than as performers, the choir seeks to direct attention to God and to help lift our praises, reinforcing congregational worship. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join! Choir meets with the other worship musicians at 8:30 on Sunday mornings for final rehearsal.
Worship Instrumentalists
Musicians who accompany our worship songs and other music include pianists, organists, guitarists (electric, acoustic, and bass), drummers, brass players, and others. Worship rehearsal takes place at 7:30 on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary at 8:30 on Sunday mornings. Those who are interested in joining the team worship musicians should contact the Worship Arts Director.
Technology Support
For the visual projection components of sanctuary worship, media operators run computer programs for videos, song lyrics, announcements, sermon notes, and other visual elements. In March 2011 we installed new digital sound system, including a Roland M-400 Mixing Console. Anyone with a gift for these technologies is invited to contact the Worship Arts Director to be included in the volunteer support staff.
